Synfacts Highlights our Paper

Our recent paper in Org Lett has attracted further attention. It was highlighted in an article in the December issue of Synfacts by Prof Victor Snieckus, and Michael Dalziel of Queen’s University, Canada. The authors noted that the development of such new routes to pharmaceutically relevant compounds containing 6- and 7-membered rings was desirable.

Posters at the CSCB

On Friday, the whole group attended the 13th annual CSCB symposium on ‘Recent Advances in Synthesis & Chemical Biology XIII’, held this year in RCSI in the centre of Dublin. Plenary lectures were given by Prof Steven Clark (Glasgow), Prof Norio Shibata (Nagoya), Prof Nils Metzler-Nolte (Ruhr University Bochum), Prof Miquel Pericas (ICIQ, Tarragona) and Dr Sarah Barry (King’s College London). We presented 2 posters at the poster session, one on our work on the synthesis of 2-deoxysugars and another on our work on the synthesis of chiral sulfides. We also congratulate our lab co-worker Ryan O’Gara from the Gilheany group who won one of the poster prizes.

Ren receives her MSc

Ren and EoghanCongratulations to Ren who was officially awarded her MSc today at a graduation ceremony in UCD’s O’Reilly Hall. She is pictured below at the post-graduation reception in the UCD O’Brien Centre for Science. We hope to see her wearing UCD’s blue and yellow PhD graduation robes in a few years time!
