Alex awarded IRC Scholarship

irishResearchCouncil_logo_whiteCongratulations to Alex Horan who has been awarded an IRC Government of Ireland PhD Scholarship. Alex will carry out research into organocatalytic asymmetric halogenations. Alex is the third member of the group to have been awarded one of these prestigious scholarships. Congratulations also to former project student Saranna Kavanagh who was also awarded an IRC scholarship to carry out research with the Gilheany group. Details of the awards made under the 2017 programmes were announced today by Minister of State for Training, Skills and Innovation, John Halligan TD. Alex and Saranna are 2 of just 284 PhD and Postdoctoral researchers awarded funding across the whole research spectrum from sciences to humanities. Well done Alex and Saranna!

Marie-Curie Alumni Chapter meeting

EU Flag hi res colour jauneEoghan took part in a meeting of the Irish Chapter of the Marie-Curie Alumni Association today. The meeting was hosted in UCD and was a good opportunity to hear about research carried out by Marie-Curie alumni based in Ireland. Eoghan’s SIRG grant was co-funded by SFI and Marie-Curie COFUND under FP7.
