We welcome Zoe and Colin Byrne to the group (they aren’t related!). They will carry out their final year BSc research projects in the group this academic year. We hope you enjoy your time in the group even though it is all a bit different this year.

Great talk Vinny!
Well done to Vinny who presented his research at the 35th Annual Postgraduate Symposium of the Heterocyclic and Synthesis Group (London (online). Vinny presented his research on applications of organosulfur chemistry to the synthesis of bipyridines.
Great Talks!
Congrats to Vinny, Alex, Dionissia and Gaffney on talks at the Dublin Chemistry PhD talks today. It was a great day of talks. Well done also to Saranna from our lab (Gilheany group side) on her talk. It was good to celebrate a positive thing.

Congrats to Alex on her talk this afternoon at the Institute of Chemistry of Ireland’s 71st Irish Universities Chemistry Research Colloquium (virtual). Alex was one of a few students chosen to represent UCD; she gave a great talk about her IRC-sponsored research in the area of organosulfur chemistry.

Congratulations to Dr Roisin McCarthy on her virtual graduation today! Not quite the graduation ceremony we hoped for but congratulations nonetheless. Congrats to Ryan from the Gilheany lab too who also had the honour of being one of the first UCD science PhD virtual graduates. Although the graduations were virtual, the work done to earn these degrees was real.
