Avene wins an IRC award

Avene Colgan has been awarded a scholarship by the Irish Research Council. Competition for these awards is intense (1600 applications were received and only 355 awards made). Chair of the Irish Research Council, Professor Orla Feely, congratulated the successful candidates, saying: “The standard of applications was extremely high this year. Competition was fierce and the Irish Research Council strove to ensure that the most innovative, creative and excellent people and their projects were chosen for funding. In order to achieve this, over two hundred independent international assessors evaluated the proposals. We wish the awardees the very best with their endeavours and look forward to exciting outcomes.” The award enables Avene to begin her PhD in the group this Autumn. Avene developed the idea for her project while working as a final year project student last year. We are very happy to welcome Avene back to the group and congratulate her on her success.Avene HeadshotirishResearchCouncil_logo
